The
95/98/ME Policy Editor and the NT/2K Policy
Editor are different :
they can only be used in their OS's environment. |
.pol
files contain a set of policies to be implemented
on one or more machines, affecting one or more
users or user groups. Those policies are
generated with Poledit.exe, the
Policy Editor.
.adm files are policy templates
you can use to create .pol files.
To create a new set of policies for a domain : |

Start Poledit.exe. |
2. |
Create a
new policy set. |

To register
the machines on which your modifications apply : |

Double-click on the Default
User icon to register the policy set for
all the domain's computers in HKCU. |

|
Double-click on the Default
Computer icon to register the policy set
for all the domain's computers in HKLM. |

To add
customized policies : |

Double-click on the Add User
icon in the toolbar to add a user in HKCU. |
|
|
Double-click on the Add
Computer icon in the toolbar to add a
computer in HKLM. |
|
|
Double-click on the Add
Group icon in the toolbar to add a group
in HKCU. |

Add your
changes if necessary. |
6. |
Save your .pol
files on the Primary Domain Controller Netlogon
folder, for example, \\PDCServerName
\Netlogon.
Note : Create a .pol
file type to open Poledit.exe
when double-clicking on a .pol
file. |
